Former Care Facility in Stirling to be transformed into new housing

Stirling Council has approved the sale of the former Beech Gardens Care Home in Torbrex following a successful marketing exercise that attracted multiple bids from interested parties.

At a recent meeting of council, it was agreed that Urban Nest Scotland Ltd be appointed as the preferred bidder. The company proposes to transform the site for private residential development in a way that respects the unique character of the surrounding conservation area.

The site, located between Batterflatts House and a local nursery, has been vacant since the strategic reconfiguration of care services and the opening of the Stirling Care Village. It was briefly brought back into use during the COVID-19 pandemic to support NHS recovery efforts, but has since reverted to council ownership.

Best value for the public

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Gerry McGarvey said: “The sale of Beech Gardens represents will unlock the potential of a site that has served the community in different ways over the years.

“This carefully considered disposal will not only help reduce the council’s property holding costs but also enable new housing opportunities within a sensitive and historically significant location.

“This outcome not only ensures best value for the public but also helps meet Stirling’s future housing needs in a sustainable, community-focused way.”

Beech Gardens was one of several surplus sites marketed as part of the Council’s proactive approach to support delivery of a more efficient, sustainable property portfolio in line with national guidance on public sector asset management.
