New and emerging musicians from across Stirling and the Forth Valley are being offered a stage to hone their skills as part of a new initiative created by Tolbooth Stirling.

From February 2024, the council-owned venue is launching New: Noise, a weekly showcase of new Scottish music in an effort to support and platform new talent from the region.

Artists of all genres are invited to submit an example of their music for consideration to be included in the first shows taking place in the New Year. It is hoped that this will become a regular feature of the Tolbooth’s programme offering.

'Fostering local talent'

Stirling Council leader, Cllr Chris Kane said: “Following the success of hosting the Scottish Album of the Year Award in Stirling for the second time, we’re committed to fostering local talent to bolster Stirling’s reputation for producing fresh and exciting musical acts.

“The Tolbooth is one of the best live music venues in the country, as evidenced by its recent Venue of the Year Award success at the Scots Trad Music Awards. Our young musicians are being offered the opportunity to cut their teeth on one of the best possible stages to hone their craft through this initiative.”

Artists have until Sunday, 17 December to submit their music for consideration for the initial dates and can do so by contacting weaverd@stirling.gov.uk
