The service has operated up to six times a day from Monday to Saturday along the A84 between Callander and Killin, through communities that include Strathyre, Lochearnhead and Lix Toll.

Kingshouse Travel notified the Council that it was stepping back early from its contract to run the C60 service, which was due to run until the end of March 2024, following difficulties in recruiting drivers to work on the route.

Since then, the Council has been engaging with Kingshouse Travel, gathering feedback from users and exploring all options to ensure this important service is maintained, leading to the outcome of the reduced timetable.

The new timetable, which will take effect this Wednesday and run until the end of March, can be found here and has been shared with local community groups.

Meet the needs of users

Convener of the Environment, Transport and Net Zero Committee, Cllr Jen Preston, said: “We are disappointed that Kingshouse Travel is withdrawing from the contract to maintain a public bus service north of Callander.

“We appreciate the importance of this route to the communities for people travelling to and from work, for leisure, as well as medical and other appointments.

“Working with Kingshouse, and through discussions with other operators, we have ensured the service doesn’t stop completely at the end of October and that a service remains in place until March.

“We will continue to assess the new timetable to see if there are ways the service can be enhanced to meet the needs of users.

“We will also continue to keep engaging with communities and local community councils on this matter."
