All Council schools, nurseries and public offices, including libraries, will be closed as a mark of respect.

Waste collections will continue and recycling centres at Polmaise, Callander and Balfron will remain open.

Schools, nurseries and public offices will reopen on Tuesday 20 September.

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Chris Kane said: “The Council recognises just how significant a moment this is in our country’s history. It’s important that we therefore offer staff the time and opportunity, where possible, to pay their respects this Monday as the late Queen is laid to rest.

“We also recognise that it is vital to keep essential services running. Any staff who are not able to take the day off on Monday have been given an extra day’s annual leave to take at a later date.”

A national one minute silence will be observed at 8pm on Sunday 18 September, with two minutes’ silence also held on the day of the funeral.

In the meantime, the Council’s online Book of Condolence remains open to the public and will be available on the day of the funeral.

Books at Old Viewforth and Customer First remain open to the public during normal weekday opening hours for each building and 10am until 2pm this Saturday and Sunday. The Book of Condolence at the Albert Halls will close at 5pm on Wednesday.

All buildings will be closed on the day of the funeral and access to all Books of Condolence will finish at 5pm on Tuesday 20 September.
