Following last year’s debut, the all-day celebration of genre-bending music acts returns to Stirling’s iconic Tolbooth venue this October. The programme features a lineup including some of the most exciting live acts from around the UK and beyond, adding to Tolbooth’s burgeoning contemporary music scene.

The festival will be split between three specially curated stages throughout the Tolbooth and enable attendees to experience a wide range of acts throughout the day.

'Creativity and experimentation at its core'

The acts announced so far include:

  • Mun Sing, acclaimed electronic producer, visual artist and performer
  • Proc Fiskal, experimental Scottish artist from the legendary Hyperdub label
  • Lugas Europ, the solo project of Free Love’s Lewis Cook
  • an exclusive debut performance from Mental Email, who feature members of The Phantom Band, Pictish Trail, Knome and Headcleaner among their ranks
  • Stirling based artists including post-black metal duo Magagaio and experimental improv group Ubu Warp Cheer in addition to contemporary classical composer and performer Harry Górski-Brown

David Weaver, Cultural Venues Programmer at Stirling Council said: "We're delighted to be bringing Interesting Things back to Stirling - it's an opportunity to see some of the most exciting, progressive and cutting-edge contemporary music acts in the brilliant setting of the iconic Tolbooth.

“With creativity and experimentation at the festival's core, we once again can't wait to showcase a mix of globally acclaimed artists and developing local acts - all brought together by a creative fearlessness and a will to break boundaries.

Our first edition of Interesting Things last year had a fantastic, welcoming atmosphere, and I'm excited for folk to come along with open ears and open minds, ready to catch some of their favourite acts and maybe discover some new favourites as well."

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Gerry McGarvey said: “Interesting Things made a big impression at the Tolbooth last year as a festival that provided a platform to world-renowned artists seeking to challenge audiences and stretch the boundaries of defined musical genres.

“The success of last year’s festival has helped to cement Interesting Things as an exciting new addition to our events calendar and underline Stirling’s credentials as a must visit location for some of the most cutting edge music you’ll hear anywhere in the country.”

Further acts will be announced in the coming weeks, including details of visual art exhibitions, fringe events, and food and drink offerings by Tolbooth’s own Supper Club.
