Traffic regulation orders

A traffic regulation order is a legal restriction on what road-users can do when they use a specific road or roads. It might mean that there’s a limit on:

  • how fast vehicles can travel
  • how much vehicles can weigh
  • where vehicles can park
  • the movements of any abnormal loads

Stirling Council uses traffic regulation orders to:

  • keep the road network safe for all people who use it
  • prevent damage to bridges and roads
