Gritting routes and grit bin locations
Use these maps to see planned road and footpath gritting routes across the council area. You can also view our grit bin and salt pile locations.
Gritting routes
These maps shows the gritting routes for roads and footpaths that are Stirling Council's responsibility.
Gritting on motorways and trunk roads is handled by Transport Scotland. You can find out more about their gritters on the Transport Scotland winter service page.
Grit bin and salt pile locations
Stirling Council provides grit bins and salt piles at various locations across the council area.
Bins are generally placed:
- in areas away from priority gritting routes
- in accessible places where it's easy to fill them
- where they're most needed by pedestrians and motorists
Grit bins are refilled during or after spells of adverse weather.
How to use these maps
Zooming
You can zoom in and out by:
- using the + or – icons on the left of the screen
- using your mouse's scroll wheel
- pinching your smartphone or tablet's screen
Searching
To search, select the magnifying glass icon on the right of the screen.
You can search for information on:
- a specific address
- a street name
- a postcode
- your current location
Interactive legend
Select the << icon at the bottom left of the screen to access different map layers.
Resetting the map
To reset the map, select the home icon on the left of the screen.
