Volunteering

We're keen to recruit volunteers who can support our Learning and Employability team's programme of adult learning classes.

Helping them to deliver this programme is a good way to:

  • support adult learners in areas like literacy, numeracy and ICT
  • develop your own skills and experience

All volunteers get free training.

Types of volunteering opportunity

Literacy and numeracy classes

Our Learning and Employability team runs literacy and numeracy classes for adults who want to improve their reading, writing or number skills.

As a volunteer, you can help adult learners by providing the group tutor with support.

English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) classes

If you’re an experienced ESOL volunteer, you can help our tutors deliver sessions for:

  • beginner groups
  • post-beginner groups

Community class buddies

You can act as a ‘buddy’ for someone who needs support to take part in a community class. These classes cover a range of topics, including:

  • computing
  • art and crafts

Eligibility

You can apply to be a volunteer if you're:

  • 18 or over
  • a Stirling Council resident
