Castleview Nursery

About

Castleview school provides care and education for children with a range of severe and profound additional support needs. It offers up to five places for nursery age children.

Children who attend the school and nursery live throughout the Council area – most travel to school in transport provided by the authority. Some children also attend their local school or nursery to ensure they have opportunities to develop or maintain relationships with their peers.

The nursery operates 38 weeks of the year.

The learning environment includes physical spaces adapted to support specialist equipment and to offer opportunities such as hydrotherapy, rebound therapy and bespoke sensory environments. Children and staff are supported by NHS health professionals from occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music therapy and speech and language therapy. There is a full and engaging, child-centred curriculum, based on national guidance, with health and wellbeing, and communication, at its core.

Enrolment

A decision to attend Castleview is made by a child’s family and the team who support them. This is often a multi-agency team. Parents or carers are fully involved in all decision making processes and once a decision is made, we work closely with families to ensure a smooth transition.
