Increase in scam calls targeting MECS service users

Stirling & Clackmannanshire Council are issuing a warning to all users of our Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS) regarding a recent increase in scam calls targeting elderly residents. These cold call scams are falsely offering an "enhanced telecare service" for an additional cost, aiming to deceive and exploit our community members.

Please be aware that this is a scam

MECS is provided at a fixed cost for all Service Users regardless of the level you receive. Clackmannanshire & Stirling Council do not offer any such service upgrade and will never request payment or bank details over the phone.

If you receive a call like this, do not share any personal or financial information. Instead, hang up immediately and report the incident to our Customer Service team at 01786 470500.

Your safety and security are our top priority.

Stay alert and protect yourself from fraud.
