Participation requests

What is a participation request?

Participation requests were introduced by the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015. They’re a tool that community groups can use when they want to be involved in a public body’s decision-making process.

For example, if a group is not already involved in discussions about making a service better, they can ask to be included by submitting a formal participation request.

You can find out more about participation requests and how they’re handled by reading our short leaflet.
