Waste and recycling in Stirling
How the waste and recycling system works
As you settle into your new life in Stirling, it's important to know how the waste and recycling system works. We all play a part in looking after our environment and making it a clean, welcoming space for everyone.
Waste collection methods
Most households have individual bins but depending on where you live, some use purple sacks or our on-street bin hubs. If you aren’t sure what waste collection you should have contact recycle4stirling@stiring.gov.uk and we can help.
If you are a student and stay in halls of residency, your University will arrange your waste collections.
Recycling matters
Sorting your waste a recycling correctly is important so check out Stirling council’s waste and recycling web page for all the information you need including what goes in the bins and a recycling A-Z directory.
Bin collection days
Your waste and recycling collection day depends on your address. You can find your schedule online using Stirling Council’s bin postcode finder.
Extra waste
If you have more waste than usual (like after moving in), you can book a visit to one of our Household Waste Recycling Centres. You can book a slot by visiting the Household and recycling centres page:
Please don’t leave excess waste next to bins or on the street as this causes litter and attracts pests.
