Housing and Customer Service invest in homes to improve the standard of housing.

These include:
  • new kitchens
  • bathrooms
  • heating systems
  • windows
  • door replacements and more.

If you would like to know when your council home is next due for an improvement you can contact us.

Our annual budget for home improvements is £5.4m. This is separate from the day to day repairs and programmed maintenance. It is often called the Capital Programme.

The funds come from:
  • The funds that the Scottish Government allow us to borrow.

  • 25% of the receipts from houses bought under the right to buy and from any other sales of land etc.

  • Funding directly from the rent tenants pay (which is called Capital Funded from Current Revenue or CFCR).

All tenants were sent a copy of the Housing Improvement Programme. This explains how the budget is split up and how works are undertaken. We have also produced two leaflets explaining what happens when your home receives a new kitchen or bathroom
